Silk painting is a meditation, also an extension of life's flow, spontaneity, and unexpected happening -- it has a magic of its own which constantly inspires and fascinates me.

I studied painting at Tampa Bay Art Center, University of South Florida, and Penland School of Crafts. Living near Penland, I specialized in dyeing and weaving -- moving to Blowing Rock six years ago -- I returned to painting on silk. My work is now on display at Kress Emporium in Asheville, Southern Highland Outlets, and Wilcox Emporium in Boone.

My scarves are done in flat silk-crepe de chine and burn art select. I do dyeing techniques automated at schibar's. Abstract painting - florals - stripes sometimes with salt technique. I aim for cenusual color concentrations that are flattering. All are hand washable - very sensual.

My framed art is mainly mountain scenes -- florals. Still lifes of local flowers, some abstracts. Wherever I go my camera comes too - also watercolor pencils -- then at my studio I work to express the essence of the scene rather than depicting it realistically. Color is one of my primary focuses -- also my major strength.
