Eblen and Progress Energy Invite You to Share the Warmth This Winter


Open your heart to a neighbor in need and share the warmth this winter. Area organizations are collecting funds to assist those who cannot otherwise afford to heat their homes.

Eblen Charities, home of the Eblen Energy project, is working to warm homes throughout that area. Since its inception the Eblen Energy project has delivered hundreds of thousands of gallons of oil, natural gas and assisted with electric bills to families living with illnesses and disabilities. In partnership with Biltmore Oil Company, and cooperations with other oil distributors, Progress Energy and Public Service Gas Company, the Eblen Energy Project provides much needed assistance to families in need. Eblen Energy offers two programs: Crisis Intervention and Project Share/Energy Neighbor Fund.

The Crisis Intervention Program provides heating and utility assistance to low income families in Buncombe County. CIP is a federal program that assist's with emergency heating and cooling, with a final notice. The maximum allotment for the CIP program is $300 per family, per year. The Crisis Intervention Program will also pay for deposits on electric or gas service and to assist in the purchase of heating oil, propane, wood, coal, and furnace repair.

Project Share/Energy Neighbor Fund, a unique program of Progress Energy and a partner of Eblen Energy, provides utility assistance to low income families in North and South Carolina. gift to the Energy Neighbor Fund will help families who cannot otherwise afford to pay their energy bills. One hundred percent of your donation goes directly to these neighbors and helps pay for heating and other energy costs. Progress Energy and its employees contribute nearly $400,000 to the program annually and funds are distributed through local social service agencies.
