Ingles Markets to Announce Record Expansion in the Swannanoa Valley

The Economic Development Coalition for Asheville-Buncombe County (EDC) congratulates retail grocer Ingles Markets, Incorporated (NASDAQ: IMKTA), on the planned expansion of its distribution center in Black Mountain. The Buncombe County Commission approved allocation of $99.7 million in federal Recovery Zone Facility Bonds to facilitate construction of an 830,000 square foot cold storage distribution center at the Ingles corporate office on U.S. Highway 70 West. The firm expects to create an additional 160 full-time positions over the next three years as a direct result of this investment. For over six years, Ingles Markets has quietly collaborated with community partners on this plan to secure the future of Ingles Markets in Buncombe County, stated EDC Chairman K. Ray Bailey. We are humbled by this landmark investment in the future of our region and the livelihood of our citizens.
