No issue concerns the future of Western North Carolina and the nation-at-large more than the Green Economy and Green Jobs—the subject of the Asheville Sustainability Center’s third free Green Monday presentation, December 1, from 3:00-5:00 p.m., in the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce second floor conference room. “What are the current and emerging Green Economy job and entrepreneurial opportunities in our region?” “What will a Green Economy innovation network look like here?” “What must Western North Carolina do now to jumpstart its Green Economy?” These and other pressing questions will be addressed by a panel of experts and by community members. The first two Green Mondays were well-attended, lively sessions, and this third should prove no exception. Several exciting announcements by the Asheville Sustainability Center should add to the region’s momentum in positioning itself to benefit from the dramatic shifts anticipated in the country’s efforts to reinvent itself for the 21st century. Through its Green Mondays series, the Asheville Sustainability Center intends to share information, solicit new ideas, and develop consensus in pursuit of sustainable community and economic development.
