Standing Still Brings Gospel to Asheville Community Theatre August 24



Local gospel group Standing Still will perform a concert at Asheville Community Theatre on Sunday, August 24, 2008 as a part of the Asheville Jams concert series. Based in Asheville, North Carolina, Standing Still is a mixed, contemporary Southern gospel group that consists of two men and two women, all Western North Carolina residents. Tickets may be purchased in advance online at www.ashevilletheatre.org, over the phone by calling 828-254-1320 or in person at the Asheville Community Theatre Box Office at 35 E. Walnut in downtown Asheville. Tickets for Standing Still are $8 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under.

Standing Still was named the 2007 GMT (Gospel Music Television Network) Quartet of the Year. Most of the members in this young and upcoming group range are in their early to mid 20s. Ricky Brockwell and Miranda Vance are Asheville residents, while Matt Jamerson and Tiffany Jamerson hail from Weaverville, NC. Their most recent album, Take Time, was released in May 2007.

�We are excited to bring local music to audiences in a smoke-free, sit down atmosphere,� says Phil Atwood, Managing Director of Asheville Community Theatre. �Folks can sit back, enjoy the music and actually be able to see the band.�

The Asheville Jams concert series is presented by Asheville Community Theatre and will bring local musicians to the ACT stage. The Asheville Jams concert series is sponsored by Greenlife.
