You've seen Jill Cordes on the Food Network, and now Cordes is coming back to Asheville as host of the new HGTV show, "My First Place." Cordes will also be serving as the master of ceremonies for The 13th annual National Gingerbread House Competition on Monday, November 7 at The Grove Park Inn Resort & Spa in Asheville, NC. Cordes is also seen locally on weekdays at noon on WLOS-TV as part of her "Simple Solutions" nationally syndicated kitchen and home helpful hints segments. "I'm thrilled to be coming back to Asheville," said Cordes. "I was a judge last year for the competition and fell in love with the Grove Park Inn when we filmed two 'Best of' shows for Food Network earlier last year." The Grove Park Inn Resort & Spa was featured on Food Network's "Best of" series of shows in 2004 hosted by Cordes and Mark Silverstein. The shows featuring the resort were "Best of Historic Inns" and "Best of Thanksgiving Destinations." In 2004, Cordes and Silverstein co-authored a book called, Best of the Best of, a compilation of some of the great culinary experiences both enjoyed as they traversed America searching for great culinary creations and destinations. Cordes' new show "My First Place" debuts on HGTV on Saturday, October 22 at 9:00pm (EDT). The show captures the emotions and designing challenges of moving into your first home. The National Gingerbread House Competition draws more than 200 entries from as many as 20 states and has grown each year since its inception in 1993. Last year's grand prize winning entry was made by Christina Banner (Newland, NC) and she will be back this year to defend her title.
