This holiday season, Funny Business has a fantasic lineup set to entertain. With performances by comedians who have starred on a variety of platforms ranging from commercials to movies, theirs something for everybody. The lineup includes :
Carl LaBove Carl LaBove brings Physical comedy to a new level. His style is uniquely his own and the second his foot hits the stage he owns the room. His act centers around a unique storytelling style in which he incorporates quick witted improvisation with physical reenactments of his tales. It can be said he is a combination of both performance art and stand up comedy. In the sixth grade he told his mother that he wanted to be a stand up comic. His first performance was at an open mike night in Houston at the age of nineteen. That was the night he would meet another young aspiring comedian who was also performing for the first time Sam Kinison. Little did they know that their lives would be forever entwined together in the world of stand up comedy. Carl and Sam ate, drank and slept comedy for the next seven years, moving from Houston to Los Angeles together and working at the world famous "Comedy Store" as doorman. Sam's big break came on Rodney Dangerfield's HBO Special. Sam Kinison soon became a comedy sensation and he and Carl joined forces. Carl became the special guest on all tours and collaborated on three albums and several specials. They formed the Outlaws of Comedy a brand of comedic outlaws both on and off the stage. The two lived every comics dream performing at rock clubs amphitheaters and sold out arenas for the next eight years. The friendship and collaboration tragically ended in April 1992 when Sam and Carl were in route to a gig in Laughlin Nevada. Sam was injured in a car accent and shortly died, as he had lived, with his best friend Carl LaBove at his side. After taking a year off to regroup, Carl's solo career came roaring back, with four appearances on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno, The Dennis Miller Show. He was cast as a regular on Rosanne's late night comedy show, Saturday Night Special and guest stared on Seinfeld, Roseanne and The Parenthood. He was in the movies Ace Ventura, Jumping Jack Flash and Pauly Shore is Dead to name just a few. He performs regularly at the top comedy venues through out the world including Catch A Rising Star in Las Vegas and Reno. He participated in the feature film "Sam Kinison: Why did we Laugh" and has released two cd's called "I Used To Be An Outlaw: What Happened?" and DVD "Carl LaBove A night at the Frolic". We hope you enjoy this comedy video of Carl LaBove. If you ever get the chance to see him live run don't walk to see this comic legend perform the craft that he has taken to it's highest plain. Alex Ortiz Alex Ortiz is one of the hottest and most sought after comedians working today! He has both headlined and featured at "The Apollo", "Funny Bones", and "The Improve" at various major cities across the US. Over the years, Alex has shared the stage with the Late Bernie Mac, Damon Waynes, Eddie Griffin, DL Hughley, and Bobcat Goldthwaite just to name a few. Recently, Alex has been seen on Comedy Centrals Premium Blend, Latino Laugh Festival with Pablo Francisco, and P Diddys Bad Boyz of Comedy on HBO. Aside from winning the TKO Comedy Champion of 2002 on Showtime at the Apollo, he has toured internationally including venues in Japan, Italy, Spain, England, and Bosnia! Other media successes include multiple commercials for MGD and Wrigley. Collin Moulton Less than two years after getting started, Collin won his first comedy competition (the 2001 Rocky Mountain Laff-Off), and later that year found himself featured on Comedy Centrals Best of the Improv. 2003 proved to be another successful year for the up-and-comer, as he was a Best in Fest feature at the renowned Montreal Comedy Festival. Flash back eight years ago to LAs Laugh Factory aspiring stand-up comic Collin Moulton waits in line 10 hours for the chance to take the stage for three minutes on his first open mic night. Now fast-forward to June 24, 2007. Collins still waiting around a comedy venue, but this time hell get considerably more than three minutes of stage time, and best of all, hes opening for the infamous Lewis Black after winning the 4th Annual Northwest Comedy Competition. Jason Russell Jason started his comedy career in the 5th grade, by making other classmates laugh, and testing teachers patience, he was exiled from school forever! His parents, realizing their failure to raise a COMPLETE IDIOT, FedEx'd him to Western Africa, to live with the Matutu Tribe. Jason soon knew that wearing a leaf and drinking goat spit, wasn't for him. After returning to the States, Jason recognized his true calling was to make people laugh. Jason's style of comedy is silly, hard hitting, and real. His strong personality, high energy, and quick sense of humor, enable him to handle any situation. In 1991, he won "The Funniest Person in Wisconsin" contest by dazzling the audience with his unique, and crazy impressions. He went on to perform with comedians such as Martin Lawrence, from the hit T.V. series "Martin", and Tommy Davidson, from "In Living Color". Jason promises to be one of the country's hottest young comedians, a must see performance... GUARANTEED laughter! Pat Godwin Pat Godwin has been writing songs, performing in clubs and releasing CDs since he was 20 years old. It was only when Pats style took a turn, and he began adding more humor to his live act that people started taking notice. Before long, his banter with the audience was funny and his songs were even funnier. Pat plunged headfirst into comedy and discovered his true calling. Though Pats been charming audiences in clubs for years and has been featured on every major radio morning show in the country, his greatest achievement came just recently with the release of his new comedy album Under the Bed. Godwin wrote and recorded an eclectic compilation of new tunes, live favorites as well as exorcising some of the demons left behind from a relationship gone wrong. But dont let that dark description scare you, Under the Bed is hilarious, and getting heavy rotation on the nationally syndicated Bob and Tom Show. It contains the Number 1 most requested song, Gangsta Folk as well as the smash hits First Date, Nobody Speaks English, Anymore, and Voices in my Head. Its comes as no surprise that Godwin is enjoying some success, seeing as how he possesses one of the most entertaining and original live shows in the business. Because hes got such strong material and highly developed improvisational skills, no two shows are ever the same not even close. And dont let that sly boyish smile fool you; it only takes about three seconds on stage to realize that Pats comedy has an edge to it. With a mix of quirky, personal musings and off the cuff remarks, Godwin can segue in to any one of his songs, performed in an endless array of musical styles. Aside from his standup career, Godwin has blossomed into one of the most clever and prolific comedy songwriters in the business. Pat first broke onto the scene with his holiday classic Lets Put Christ Back in Christmas from the album Reindeer Games, which received airplay all over the country. After that, it wasnt long before Godwins talents were being used on radio morning shows; a medium Pat is more than familiar with. Hes appeared on every top morning show you can think of, worked for six years on Philadelphias Morning Zoo and was a frequent guest and contributor to The Howard Stern Show.
