Legendary Country Band Alabama Bids Farewell with Clemson Concert

Country music legendary band Alabama will include a stop at Clemson Universitys Littlejohn Coliseum on its American Farewell tour. The concert, scheduled for Saturday, April 17, 2004, will be the closest show for Alabamas legion of Western North Carolina fans.

Tickets are on sale at the University Union box office, all TicketMaster locations, and online at ticketmaster.com, which might be the best possibility for good seats for WNC fans.

A limited number of Platinum Fan Packages, with floor seats and special premiums, will be available for $1,000. Tickets for upper bowl seats will be $27, lower bowl seats will be $57, and riser seats will be $150.

The Platinum Fan Package includes floor seats for the show, a reception with the band following the concert, a personal photo with the band, and a limited edition Les Paul guitar. The guitar was created especially for the American Farewell tour. Each guitar is individually numbered and signed by members of the band. The front of the guitar featured the Alabama 2004 farewell tour logo, and a dual-image pick-guard. From one angle the picture on the pick-guard is the American flag; from another angle, the picture changes to show the Alabama band members. The back of the guitar lists all of Alabamas 42 number-one hits. Because of the tie-in with the farewell tour and the limited availability of the guitars, each one is worth between $3,500 and $5,000, according to Dale Thompson, president of Grammy Art of Music Galleries.

This is going to be a great show for the fans, and the fact that this is their last show in the area, including Atlanta and Charlotte, adds a lot of enthusiasm for this event, said Marty Kern, director of major events for Littlejohn Coliseum. This venue will be one of the very best places you can see Alabama up-close and personal. If youre a big Alabama fan, this is the place to see their show.

Alabama has had 42 number-one hits, sold more than 70 million albums, and won 150 major awards during the past 25 years. The band is well known for its high-energy live performances.

Alabama has strong ties to South Carolina the band got its start at a Myrtle Beach club call The Bowery and played at clubs all over the state in its early years. It also opened the Alabama Theatre in Myrtle Beach in 1991.

The Clemson concert is one of 45 stops nationwide on the farewell tour.
