The Buncombe County Animal Shelter will be closed Dec. 24-26 and Jan. 1.
Buncombe County Courthouse
Buncombe County courts observe the North Carolina Judicial Branch holiday schedule and will be closed Dec. 24-26 and Jan. 1.
Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office
Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office front desk will be closed Dec. 24-26 and Jan. 1; all other operations will be on a normal schedule.
Community Care Stations
Community Care Stations offering showers, laundry, and more will be closed on Dec. 24-26 and Jan. 1.
Emergency Services & Public Safety Communications
Administrative offices will be closed Dec. 24-26 and Jan. 1. EMS and 911 will maintain normal operations.

Election Services will be closed Dec. 24-26 and Jan. 1.

FEMA Disaster Recovery Center
The FEMA Disaster Recovery Center at the Asheville Mall will close at noon on Tuesday, Dec. 24 and will be closed Dec. 25-26, and Jan. 1.
Health & Human Services
BCHHS services will be closed Dec. 24-26 and Jan. 1.
Identification Bureau
The ID Bureau at 52 Coxe Ave., will be closed Dec. 24-26 and Jan. 1.
Mountain Mobility
Mountain Mobility will be closed on Mountain Mobility will be closed on Wednesday, Dec. 25. Only ADA paratransit will be served on Wednesday, Jan. 1.
One Buncombe Call Center
The One Buncombe Call Center will be closed Dec. 24-26 and Jan. 1.
Parks & Recreation
Parks & Recreation administration offices will be closed Dec. 24-26 and Jan. 1. Buncombe County Sports Park and Lake Julian Park are closed Dec. 24-25 and Jan. 1. All other open parks remain open. Outside of the holiday closure, only use park facilities that are officially open. Open parks are Bent Creek River Park, Cane Creek Playground, Corcoran Paige River Park, Hominy Valley Park, North Buncombe Fields, Lake Julian Park, and Buncombe County Sports Park.
Public Libraries
All Buncombe County Public Libraries will be closed Dec. 24-26 and Jan. 1. Additionally, libraries will close early at 6 p.m. on Dec. 31. Swannanoa Library remains closed. The digital library is always available at buncombecounty.org/library.
Register of Deeds
The Buncombe County Register of Deeds will be closed Dec. 24-26 and Jan. 1. Online services will remain available.
Solid Waste
The Buncombe County Landfill and Transfer Station will close at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 24, and will be closed on Wednesday, Dec. 25 and Wednesday, Jan. 1. Click here for detailed information on the schedule for the Landfill and Transfer Station.
Throughout the holiday season, right-of-way debris removal will occur in various areas of the County. However, staffing and resources will be reduced between Dec. 24-26 and Jan. 1.

Hours for property owners in unincorporated Buncombe, City of Asheville, and Town of Black Mountain wanting to apply to have qualified disaster debris removed from their private or commercial property or to apply for demolition of eligible unsafe structures:

Waste Pro
Waste Pro will be closed and there will be no trash/recycling pick up on Dec. 25. Collection will be on a one-day delay with Wednesday collection on Thursday, Thursday on Friday, and Friday on Saturday.
Waste Pro’s contract with Buncombe County ends as of Jan. 1 and there will be no trash/recycling collection on that day. On Jan. 2 FCC will begin trash/recycling collection on a one-day delay with Wednesday collection on Thursday, Thursday on Friday, and Friday on Saturday.
