Asheville Independent Restaurants (AIR) is proud to announce the success of 20 local restaurant employees who have completed the Financial Empowerment Program. A celebration honored their achievements took place on Dec. 16.

Designed specifically for food service workers, the program empowers participants with essential financial tools, including budgeting, debt management, responsible credit use, pathways to homeownership, small business planning, and investment strategies.

This cohort faced extraordinary challenges, including the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. Many participants not only endured personal hardships but also stepped up to support their community during the storm recovery. Despite these obstacles, they remained dedicated to their financial goals—and to themselves.

Remarkably, all 20 participants achieved their savings goals and will each be awarded $1,000 in recognition of their hard work and commitment.

This initiative was made possible by the generous support of Dogwood Health Trust, the Community Foundation of Western North Carolina, Eblen Charities, and Best Year Yet.
