On December 12, Pilots To The Rescue will fly cats and dogs from the Asheville Humane Society to Lost Dog and Cat Rescue Foundation in Manassas, Virginia, with the hopes these pets can find their forever homes for the holidays.

In light of the recent hurricane devastation, Asheville shelters have been overcrowded, so these animals are being transported to a no-kill organization in Virginia that has capacity to take in more animals.

“Since 1984, Asheville Humane Society has been working to make sure every animal gets the love and care they deserve.” said Caroline Dougherty, Senior Manager of Communications and Marketing for the Asheville Humane Society. “Our team is here because we’re passionate about helping animals, and that’s what drives everything we do—from rescuing pets in need to building a more compassionate community. Thanks to the incredible support of our partners and community, especially during tough times, we can keep giving hope and care to animals and the people who love them.”

Pilots to the Rescue is a US-based nonprofit that transports animals from under-resourced shelters and takes them to rescue and adoption centers where they can be cared for, fostered and placed with loving families. The organization fills a crucial gap in the rescue process allowing animals to be adopted and spared from euthanasia.
