Hatteras Sky’s new Asheville, North Carolina property, Zelda Dearest, has been named a finalist in the 20th annual HD Awards from Hospitality Design Magazine.
These coveted awards celebrate the best in design around the world and are widely known as the most prestigious honors within the hospitality industry. Opened in October 2023, Zelda Dearest embraces the essence of dramatic and spontaneous debutante, Zelda Sayre Fitzgerald, a fiercely talented artist, novelist, poet, dancer, and, according to many, a terribly intoxicating delight.
Zelda Fitzgerald’s captivating personality is reflected throughout Zelda Dearest’s 20 rooms, each spread between three thoughtfully restored turn-of-the-century mansions. With timeless and fashionable interiors by Nashville-based design firm, Anderson Design Studio, each room has an enchanting personality, much like Zelda herself. The property, developed under a license with the estate of F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald, pulls from Zelda’s romantic perspectives and artistic character by mixing soft, feminine pink tones with bold and worldly accents. Zelda Dearest is Hatteras Sky’s second Asheville, North Carolina property, debuting alongside The Radical, which opened in the River Arts District in October 2023. Zelda Dearest is the second partnership between Hatteras Sky and its capital partner Somera Capital East, and was recently added to the Lark Hotels portfolio.
Zelda Dearest is one of five finalists in the HD Awards’ newly introduced Small Hotel (50 rooms and under) category. This year, nearly 930 award entries were submitted.
