BeLoved Asheville volunteers, with the support of Asheville Arborists and Crane and J & N Construction, placed the walls of the twelfth and final house at the BeLoved Village on Thursday, Sept. 20.
This moment saw the walls literally soaring in the air over the roofs of the other homes framed during the organization’s recent Blitz Build.
Using a specialized crane, the walls were lifted 30 plus feet in the air and lowered onto the floor platform of the 12th and final home in the BeLoved Village, located at 100 Corazon Place in Asheville.
“This point marks a powerful moment in the construction of the BeLoved Village. To be finishing the framing of the entire Village is momentous. As we build homes for our community, so many are drawing hope seeing ordinary people coming together and constructing the houses that are desperately needed,” says Ponkho Bermejo, BeLoved Asheville Co-Director.
This last home is sponsored by the team at Nest Realty Asheville and constructed with the support of J & N Construction who have donated the last two weeks to the effort. The use of the crane for this amazing feat was donated by Asheville Arborists and Crane.
“It is simply amazing seeing walls literally flying through the air above the roofs and trees of the Village. Our emotions are also soaring as we celebrate this major accomplishment finishing the framing of all 12 homes. We could not have done this without the support of so many people in our community who believe that together we can create home-grown solutions to the housing crisis and bring our neighbors who are home,” says Amy Cantrell, BeLoved Asheville Co-Director.
These efforts are made possible through a national Lowe’s Hometowns grant meant to accelerate the completion of the BeLoved Village over the next six months.
