Ingles Announces Bonuses for Staff and Additional Hiring of 5,000 Associates

Ingles Markets is providing a one-time bonus payment of $300 to full-time employees as well as a bonus of $150 to part-time employees. Additionally, the company plans to hire 5,000 new associates.

To ensure stores and distribution centers have the support they need, Ingles is currently hiring over 5,000 additional associates. This is intended to provide relief to current associates and allow Ingles to continue to focus on serving customers while maintaining its enhanced cleaning standards. Ingles has also implemented a paid, two-week COVID-19 leave program for associates who test positive. In addition, they have modified their sick pay policy and enhanced the medical plan to provide covered members with additional benefits.

The company will provide a one-time bonus payment of $300 to full-time — and $150 to part-time — active retail, distribution, and corporate associates who were hired prior to March 1, 2020. Ingles operates 210 stores in six southeastern states, including 63 stores in North Carolina. According to the company’s first quarter fiscal 2020 filing report, its total sales for the quarter were $1.08 billion, with a reported gross profit of $257.5 million. Basic and diluted earnings per share for the company’s publicly traded Class A Common Stock were $0.90 and $0.87, respectively.
