The 2019 Asheville Greek Festival

The 2019 Asheville Greek Festival, organized by the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church of Asheville, returns this weekend to the Montford Historic District. Admission is free!

The festival takes place at 227 Cumberland Avenue, just a short drive from downtown Asheville, on Friday and Saturday from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm, and Sunday from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. Take out is available and, as always, admission is free.

Come sample traditional foods like lamb shank, pastichio, spanakopita, gyro, and souvlaki as well as some homemade pastries like baklava, kourambiethes, galataboureko, and much more. You can enjoy all these delicacies while tapping your feet to the sounds of our traditional music. Food prices range from $2.00 to $17.00 (and again, takeout is available!).

While you’re at the festival, browse through the “agora” (marketplace) as if you were strolling through the cobble-stone streets of the villages of the ancient Greeks while catching a live performance of talented dancers who carry on the traditions of many years ago. You can also tour the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church of Asheville that is deep in history in itself.

These are the traditions of Greek life as are the “panigiri” (festival). Where friends and family come together to enjoy fellowship, food, dancing, and all around good time. So come join the community for your chance to become “Greek for a day!”
