Bret Boswell Named SAL Player of the Week

Bret Boswell became the first Asheville Tourists player to be recognized by the South Atlantic League this season. He was named the league’s Player of the Week for May 21-27.

During the week, Boswell hit .452 (14-for-31) with three doubles, one triple, one Home Run, four RBI, six runs scored, and one stolen base. Bret played in all eight games for the Tourists last week and recorded at least one hit in all eight contests.

Boswell currently ranks fourth in the South Atlantic League in batting average for the season (.323), second in runs scored (37), fourth in total bases (92), and fifth in slugging percentage (.561). The Rockwall, Texas native is batting .374 in the month of May.

The Tourists infielder has split time between second and third base throughout the season. His current 16-game home hitting streak is the longest home hit streak in the South Atlantic League this season. Boswell has also reached base in his last 18 games player.
