Fairgoers wanting to save extra money on all of the fun at this year’s Mountain State Fair can take advantage of special discounts available during the fair’s run, Sept. 11-20 at the WNC Ag Center.
“One of the best ways to save money on gate and ride tickets is by purchasing in advance,” said Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler. “But, families can also save money once the fair starts with a number of special deals.”
Friday Night Frenzy, a popular promotion for high school students, is being offered again this year. For $25, guests will receive gate admission and unlimited rides Friday nights from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Tickets will be available for purchase at the WNC Agricultural Center all day Sept. 11 and Sept. 18. The two-part ticket will include one admission ticket that can be used all day and a ride ticket that can be exchanged for an unlimited-ride hand stamp at designated areas on the midway after 9 p.m.
Those who enjoy carnival rides can take advantage of two unlimited-ride days being held Sept. 14 and 17. On those days, visitors can purchase a voucher good for unlimited rides throughout the day for $20. The cost does not include gate admission. Families with younger children may want to take advantage of another unlimited-ride promotion on Sept. 15.
“Navigating the fair with young children can be challenging, especially on the popular unlimited-ride days. That’s why we created our Young Family Night promotion,” said fair manager Matt Buchanan. “On Tuesday, Sept. 15, we are offering an unlimited-ride ticket for children ages 12 and under only. The cost is $20.”
On Wednesday, Sept. 16, the fair will host its annual Ingles Day. Guests who bring five cans of Laura Lynn brand food to the fair that day will receive free gate admission. All food collected during the event will benefit the MANNA Food Bank, which serves 16 counties in Western North Carolina.
In addition to these opportunities, fair organizers have partnered with the N.C. Education Lottery to offer a free scratch-and-win ticket for each adult ticket sold on Saturday, Sept. 12. The fair is also offering opportunities for students and seniors to receive free admission to the fair. Students in grades K-12 can receive free gate admission on Friday, Sept. 11, until 6 p.m. Senior citizens, 65 and older, can receive free gate admission all day on Friday, Sept. 18.
