Robin Morgan, writer, political theorist and editor of the groundbreaking anthology, Sisterhood Is Powerful, will present a lecture at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 3 in UNC Asheville’s Humanities Lecture Hall.
Her lecture, Sisterhood Tweets and Blogs into the 21st Century, is free and open to the public.
Morgan has written more than 20 books of poetry, fiction, and nonfiction, and is the global editor of Ms. magazine, which she helped re-launch as an international bi-monthly magazine in 1990.
Sisterhood Is Powerful (Random House, 1970) was named by the New York Public Library as one of the 100 most influential books of the 20th century. Morgan followed that volume with two subsequent anthologies, Sisterhood is Global (Doubleday, 1984; updated edition, The Feminist Press, 19960 and Sisterhood is Forever: The Women’s Anthology for a New Millenium (Washington Square Press, Simon & Schuster, 2003).
Morgan is the founder and president of The Sisterhood Is Global Institute, and co-founder of The Women’s Media Center, and is the recipient of the National Endowment for the Arts Prize, among other awards.
