82nd Annual City of Asheville Open Tennis Championships begins this Friday

The 82nd Annual City of Asheville Open Tennis Championships will be held July 5-7 and July 13-21 at the Aston Park Tennis Center in Asheville, highlighted by both the Junior and Adult Tournaments.

 

The Junior Tournament will be July 5-7 with a modified feed-in consolation format.  Entry fee is $30 for singles, and $10 per person for doubles. Entry deadline is Monday, July 1.

The Adult Tournament will be July 13-21 highlighted by the Men’s and Women’s Open Singles Finals on July 21.   National Tennis Rating Program divisions will be July 13-15, the 35’s-55’s and Mixed will be July 19-21, and the adult and senior divisions (60-90) will begin on July 14 for divisions greater than 16 and on July 15for divisions less than 16.  Entry fee is $40 for singles, and $20 per person for doubles. Entry deadline isMonday, July 8.

 

The City Open is designated as an official 200-Point Tournament of the Southern Tennis Association, assuring Asheville a strong field with high finishers receiving additional points toward their United States Tennis Association rankings.

 

This year’s City Open features the Men’s and Women’s Open Division with players competing for $10,000 in prize money. 

 

The total cash purse of $10,000 is sponsored by the Asheville Tennis Association, Pepsi Cola Bottling Company of Asheville, and News Radio 570am.
