The New York Studio for Stage & Screen provides an Introduction to Filmmaking Class

The New York Studio for Stage & Screen in Asheville (NYS3) invites aspiring filmmakers and anyone who has an interest or curiosity in learning the craft to Filmmaking: Process to Product Class. This filmmaking Intensive provides a practical and comprehensive grounding in the concepts and techniques for both film and digital production. Students will have the opportunity to learn and work with state-of-the-art cameras, lighting and digital editing equipment. As a group students will create a short in-class project which will provide experience in the entire production process including storyboarding, directing, shooting, sound recording, and editing. As part of the project students will learn and perform the various on-set crew positions which are so often shrouded in mystery.

NYS3 provides a 2 year Professional Track Program in Theatre, Film and VoiceOver for the serious, aspiring actor as well as a la carte classes for those who are looking to polish their acting skills or just to try something new that will enrich their lives. The school provides not only the technical aspects to make it as a fully versed actor in the industry, but also a nurturing, dynamic and fun environment for learning.

Filmmaking: Process to Product is a 4 week course that will begin on April 27. Class will be held every Saturday from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm until May 18.

The class will be lead by Bill Pivetta and a surprise guest instructor who is a lifelong industry filmmaker and director of a professional film school. Bill Pivetta is an experienced cinematographer, sound technician and editor. He has worked on hundreds of film projects, including independent films, commercials, music videos and features. He is an Instructor at Appalachian State University in the Department of Theatre and Dance and The Carolina Film Institute (CFI). His company, First Avenue Films, Inc., specializes in providing support to professional and independent filmmakers. His studio is located at Blue Ridge Motion Pictures in Asheville, NC.
