ONSITE | Monday, December 18, 1 – 3:30 p.m. | $35 Adult Non-Member (Arboretum member discount applies!) Pre-registration Required.
In landscaping, we have a phrase for all of the colors, textures, and structures found in the dormant landscape: “winter interest”. Dried flowers, seed heads, and colorful twigs are winter’s bouquet! While these materials eventually break down in nature, or would be cleaned up by a gardener to make way for spring growth, they can become long-lasting decorations when brought indoors. In this class, we will first twist grapevines into wreaths. Then, we will decorate our wreaths with dried plant materials. Grapevine wreaths can last for years and are a great way to keep and showcase summer’s bounty, all year long! The Arboretum’s National Native Azalea Collection Curator, Carson Ellis, was born and raised in Asheville, NC, is a life-long explorer of Western North Carolina’s mountains. Her love for the natural world inspired her to pursue a career studying and cultivating native plants.
