Author and Pulitzer Prize-Winning Journalist Rick Bragg to Read on September 26th

Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and bestselling author Rick Bragg will give a reading at 3:00 pm on Saturday, September 26th at UNC Asheville’s Sherrill Center.

The event is scheduled to take place in the Mission Health System Mountain View Room. This event is free and open to the public.

Bragg is the author of six works of non-fiction, including four memoirs chronicling the history of his family in Alabama. His intimate portrayals of the rural South have earned critical acclaim; he “tells about the South with such power and bone-naked love … he will make you cry” (Atlanta Journal-Constitution).

A journalist for many years, in 1996 Bragg was awarded a Pulitzer Prize for his feature writing in The New York Times, “for his elegantly written stories about contemporary America.” His first book, All Over But the Shoutin’ (Vintage, 1998), earned several awards and was a New York Times notable book of the year.

Bragg is also the author of two biographies, Jerry Lee Lewis: His Own Story (Harper, 2014) and I Am a Soldier Too: The Jessica Lynch Story (Knopf, 2003).
