Rock Your First Girls on the Run 5k

Have you been training to run your first Girls on the Run 5k with your daughter this season? Congratulations on taking on a new challenge!

Like your daughter, this may be something you never imagined doing. Look at you now! You’re just a short time away from experiencing a special moment with your girl on the run.

We know you’re going to rock your first GOTR 5k, but here are a few tips to keep in mind for the May 16th event:

  1. Above all else, have fun. This is a non-competitive event that’s meant to celebrate the accomplishments your girl on the run has made over the past 12 weeks. Just enjoy the time with her and you’ll both have memories to last your lifetime.
  2. Take time to “experience” the day. Listen to and watch the excitement. Laugh. Don’t hold back.
  3. Don’t sweat it. You may be wondering if you can complete the 5k. You can. Remember, you’ve come a long way from when you first decided to run with your girl.
  4. Give yourself a pat on the back. Yes, this day is about celebrating your girl and what she’s accomplished, but don’t forget the fact that you’re doing the same.

Maybe you’ll be so inspired by the day you’ll become more involved in the Girls on the Run program by volunteering as a Coach, helping out with any or all of our upcoming events, or becoming a SoleMate.
