A new live music venue has open on Asheville’s South Slope. Brought to life by the team at Burial Beer Co., Eulogy is a mid-sized room, aiming to add to the city’s vibrant music and live performance scene.
The venue is part of an expansion project at 10 Buxton Ave, adjacent to Burial’s original South Slope Taproom, which opened in 2013. The space will feature a full bar with 18 taps of Burial’s beer, housemade cocktails, wine from VISUALS, and more, with a rooftop wine and cocktail bar to spotlight VISUALS, Burial’s product line of wine, cider, and aperitifs, opening in Spring 2024.
“Music has forever been at the heart of Burial’s immersive experiences.”, says Burial Co-Founder and Chief Strategy Officer Doug Reiser. “As a brand, we have embodied expressions of visual and auditory arts, allowing guests to dive deeper into their beverage, conversation, and relationships. Eulogy will provide a platform for more fluid collaboration, allowing artists to have more freedom to design their presentation, working with lighting, projection and stage formation, and often working to co-create products with our team.”
Burial has purchased a state-of-the-art sound and lighting package, enlisting Pisgah AVL, a premier and nationally known audio/visual production company to build the full experience. They’ve also enlisted one of the most well-regarded talent buyers in North Carolina to spearhead booking for the venue. The vision of Eulogy is to fill the room frequently with a wide array of programming, spanning all genres, targeting artistically inspiring local, national and international artists. “Our focus is to nurture the experimental spirit, giving a voice to the innovative underground,” says Burial’s Music Manager, Bryce Franich.
Eulogy’s opening November lineup represents the diversity in genres that the venue will aim to offer on an ongoing basis. Tickets for the following shows are now on sale at eulogyavl.com:
- 11.10 – Mary Lattimore + Manas & E.M.M. with Topographies and Jon Mueller
- 11.11 – Avey Tare + Geologist + Deakin of Animal Collective (Solo Sets)
- 11.13 – Runnner + Sun June with Greg Freeman
- 11.15 – Bully
- 11.16 – Sham (Free Show)

The building that Eulogy calls home will not just host the music venue and rooftop VISUALS bar. Burial’s South Slope brewery lies adjacent to the venue with a shop complete with beer, wine and Burial merchandise calls the bottom floor home, and the long-awaited opening of Top Chef alum and James Beard-finalist chef Ashleigh Shanti’s Good Hot Fish restaurant will also open in 10 Buxton Ave later this Fall. Shanti, who is currently in the midst of a month-long series of pop-ups at Burial’s Taproom next door, will open her counter service fish fry concept with a fairly menu that will feature local North Carolina seafood and an array of specials. “Good Hot Fish was born out of nostalgia for the fish camps I grew up visiting on road trips throughout the South”, says Shanti. “This is my first restaurant and after years without a kitchen home, I’m happy for a platform to feed Asheville again.”
