Asheville Downtown Association Hosts Talk by Well-known Urban Designer

The Asheville Downtown Association welcomes Dennis Pieprz, an urban designer of Sasaki, on Wednesday, May 9th. The event takes place at The Center for Craft at 67 Broadway Street in downtown Asheville.

Doors will open at 5:30 pm, and the presentation will begin at 6:00 pm.

Dennis will share his design expertise, which focuses upon reviving urban districts, creating new communities, designing campus environments, and revitalizing urban waterfronts. Participants will gain an understanding about how these design practices can apply in Asheville and explore lessons and applications for the design of downtown public space, the recent growth of Asheville’s riverfront community, expansion of college campuses and the walkability of our city.

Dennis is a Principal at Sasaki Associates, an international interdisciplinary planning and design firm, where he uses his 25 years of national and international experience to shape new communities and to regenerate the existing. He is a graduate of the Harvard School of Design and the University of Toronto School of Architecture. Dennis and his team have received over 55 design awards and have been nationally recognized by the American Institute of Architects, the American Society of Landscape Architects, and the Society for College and University Planning.
