art galleries. We also have some wonderful museums that feature local
artists as well as national and international exhibits. No longer do
you have to go to New York or Chicago to have the opportunity to
experience wonderful art.

Antiques at Riverview Station
Asheville's newest antique mall is located in the River Arts District, at 191 Lyman Street, between 12 Bones Restaurant and Paneling World. Find us in a turn of the century, brick building that housed a former leather tannery and candlestick station. Enjoy nearly 6700 square feet of vintage shopping pleasure. We have everything from vintage, retro and antique furniture of all kinds, to patio sets, tools, primitives, art, books, glassware and collectibles. Enjoy our air conditioned, carpeted showroom containing vintage jewelry, glassware and collectibles displayed in lighted display cases. Truly something for everyone! Pack Place Education, Arts and Science Center
Downtown across from Pack Square, Pack Place Education, Arts and
Science Center houses Three Centuries of Pack Square, and is the home
for the Asheville Art Museum, Diana Wortham Theater, Colburn Earth
Science Museum, the Health Adventure and the YMI Cultural Center. A

Asheville Art Museum

The museum houses its own impressive permanent collection of 20th
century American art while also frequently playing host to visiting
collections from other prestigious museums. Allow an hour or more for a
visit. Open Tues.-Sat. 10am-5pm, Sun. 1-5pm. Fri. until 8pm in the
summer.
Colburn Earth Science Museum

Explore the rich treasures of the earth at this museum called "a mini-Sithsonian of gems" by the Washington Post. Allow one to three hours for a visit. Open Tues.-Sat. 10am-5pm.

YMI Cultural Center
The YMI Cultural Center is a community-based, non-profit organization
which seeks to enhance the cultural and economic lives of residents of
Western North Carolina, particularly minority and low-income people.
The YMI Cultural Center focuses on three program areas: Cultural Arts,
Economic Development, and Community Education. The YMI Cultural Center

Smith-McDowell House Museum, Asheville's First Mansion
If you are planning a visit to the Asheville area for the color season,
you might want to plan a visit to the Smith-McDowell House Museum.
Built circa 1840 by James McConnell Smith, the Smith McDowell House is
Asheville's oldest surviving house and the oldest brick house in

Folk Art Center

The Center is the home of the Southern Highland Craft Guild,
representing craft artists from Southern Appalachia. The Allanstand
Craft Shop carries the work of over 300 of these guild members.
Upstairs the Folk Art Center offers a gallery which showcases changing
exhibits of regional and national scope. Daily craft demonstrations
April-December. Open daily 9am-6pm, Apr.-Dec.; 9am-5pm Jan.-Mar.
Admission is free.
