RiverLink is very excited to have a new staff member through the Americorps Project Conserve Program; Rebecca Childress is replacing Ashley Brown as the Education Coordinator. RiverLink received applications from many qualified applicants, and after a month long interview/selection process, selected Rebecca based upon her impressive educational background and work experiences. Please join us in welcoming Rebecca RiverLink!Rebecca Childress comes to RiverLink with a background in education and visual arts. After graduating from Appalachian State University in 2008 with a degree in Technical Photography, Rebecca joined AmeriCorps in August of 2008 where she delivered environmental education and implemented recycling programs in Knox County public schools. Rebecca grew up hiking the mountains of North Carolina with her brother and father and has consequently developed a passion for the environment and its well-being. Rebecca decided that she had been away from North Carolina for too long, and returned with new experiences, insights, and enthusiasm. During her free time, Rebecca enjoys photography, bike-riding, art, cooking, reading, and hiking, and hopes to have her own garden one day. Rebecca is excited to start her role as RiverLink's new Education Coordinator, and can't wait to start teaching. She is positive that this year will be full of growing and learning-not only for her students but for herself as well.
