Save that Rain for a Sunny Day

We all know that when it rains, it pours; and with the right rain barrel, all that rainwater can be saved. With the drought and significant stormwater pollution in our streams rain water harvesting is the ideal solution. Residential irrigation can account for up to 40% of consumption and rain that falls on parking lots and roads picks up the pollution that we leave behind. This pollution is swept to the nearest stream, greatly impacting water quality. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, stormwater pollution is the nations biggest water quality threat.

Rain barrels can help solve these problems by collecting rain water and storing it a rain barrel for future use, whether it’s for watering the garden or just keeping it handy for emergency situations. This reduces home water consumption, decreases stormwater pollution, and saves you money.

Placement of your rain barrel under your gutter will fill the barrel in the slightest rain. This water can then be used for all your irrigation needs.

RiverLink’s rain barrels are made from recycled 55 gallon white barrels and are the best price in town. For only $60 you can begin to save water and our water quality. To purchase your rain barrel visit www.riverlink.org and click on store or call 828-252-8474 ext. 114.

RiverLink is regional non-profit working toward the economic and environmental revitalization of the French Broad River Watershed.
