The 2006 Pack Place Raffle winners recently returned to Asheville from their exciting trip to Tuscany; and, just in time for the drawing for this year's lucky winner. 2006 Raffle winners Ali Karn and Tara Mele spent a week touring the Tuscan countryside before meeting up with eight friends who joined them in their private Italian villa to soak up the Tuscan sun. Karn returned saying, "the villa experience rendered us all speechless... with gourmet, Tuscan cuisine every night for dinner and a breakfast spread that you would not believe! What an amazing time!" Mele added, "Tuscany, for me, was like a dream - a wonderful dream. I cried and laughed and played and ate (and ate and ate) ... the trip was amazing, absolutely the trip of a lifetime." When she speaks of her experience, she says: "Yes - real people do win this. Ali and I split a ticket and it has felt like winning the lotto!" There is still time to participate in this year's chance to Win Something Extraordinary! The 2007 drawing will be held around 8pm on City County Plaza during the City of Asheville's July 4th Celebration. Tickets will be available on site prior to the drawing. The winner receives a Dream Trip to Tuscany valued at over $12,000. No more than 500 tickets will be sold, so the odds are great! The raffle is the annual fundraiser for the Pack Place Education, Arts & Science Center in downtown, Asheville. The raffle is co-sponsored by 96.5 WOXL, Bank of America, Progress Energy, G.A. Printing and Fugazy Travel. All proceeds raised from the annual raffle are used to support the operations of Pack Place Education, Arts & Science Center so that its Partners - the Asheville Art Museum, Colburn Earth Science Museum, Diana Wortham Theatre, the Health Adventure and YMI Cultural Center - can focus their funds and resources on the programs that have become an integral part of the culture and education of so many visitors from Asheville, Western North Carolina and beyond.
