The NC Arboretum is proud to host a lecture on November 8: “Taking
Pictures versus Creating Images.” Everette Robinson hosts this
presentation on the equipment and techniques used to produce the
images found in the Carolinas’ Nature Photographers Association
exhibit in the Education Center’s second floor Gallery. The lecture
will be held at 1 p.m. at the Education Center Auditorium. Free with
the parking fee of $6 per personal vehicle; always free for Arboretum
Society members.Lecture details and bio is below. Thanks for helping the Arboretum promote this unique lecture that is free with parking! What do professional photographers do that makes their photographs so much better than yours? Sure, an expensive camera is part of the answer, but the issue is more complex. Some people with very expensive cameras make terrible photos, and some people with simple cameras can produce some surprising results. High quality photographs require special equipment, knowledge of basic principles, experience, extra effort, and lots of patience. Superior photography necessitates getting away from the camera's automatic features and learning the special options that even the simplest cameras have. While some equipment is costly, some significant improvements can be made with little expense. My presentation will detail some of the equipment and techniques that the photographers of the Carolinas' Nature Photographers Association use to produce the images on display in the exhibition. An accompanying photographic show will demonstrate the principles throughout the course of the lecture, and questions will be welcome. (Image provided by ncarboretum.org.)
