Flat Rock Music Festival Needs Volunteers: 8 Hours of Work Equals One Free Weekend Pass

The 2007 Flat Rock Music Festival will be held this year on September 28, 29 and 30 at Camp Tonawandah in Flat Rock, North Carolina. This 12 year old festival is one of Flat Rock's largest, most exciting events and features three days of some of the country's best singer songwriters, musicians and bands. Featured musical acts range from Bluegrass to Rock and Roll, Folk to Jazz. The Flat Rock Music Festival is fun for all ages and prides itself on being family friendly. This year Flat Rock Music Festival is expanding its volunteer program and there are more positions available than ever before. Volunteers can choose from a variety of different crews and jobs. Crews are assigned on a first come, first serve basis. Volunteers who work 8 hours during the three day festival receive a free weekend pass, which includes all events and live performances as well as free camping. Volunteers working more than 8 hours will receive further compensation.

At least half of all Flat Rock Music Festival volunteers have been attending and working at the festival for more than five years. Large families even attend and there is something for everyone to participate in. "Our volunteers are the backbone of our event," states Sarah Benoit, volunteer coordinator, "The festival director and staff know we count on our family of volunteers to support the festival. Without everyone who chooses to contribute their time the festival wouldn't run nearly as smoothly." "Plus the people who have been involved with this festival in the past are some of the most fun loving and amazing people I have ever met," Benoit continues. Volunteer positions are available in security, parking, kitchen staff, Kid's Village staff, waterfront, housekeeping, set up and clean up.

The Flat Rock Music Festival begins Friday September 28, 2007 and the lineup is made up of a diverse group of successful musicians from around the country. The festival also features a critically acclaimed songwriter's contest. Songwriter's from around the United States submit music for consideration and the winner performs on the main stage. This year festival goers can expect to see bands like the Subdudes, The Waybacks, Sol Driven Train, Barefoot Manner and Ras Alan and the Lions. Flat Rock Music Festival also features some of North Carolina's best local bands from Asheville and the surrounding counties.
