Landowner Workshop to be held in Coastal North Carolina November 6 & 7

Are you a landowner or manager interested in hunting or other recreational opportunities on your property? Concerned about landowner liability?

Then the Lenoir County Cooperative Extension Center is the place for you to be on November 6-7.

Stewardship, Recreation, & Liability, a workshop for participants to have hands-on opportunities to learn general skills and information useful in managing their land, will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, November 6 and from 9 a.m. to noon November 7.

Participants will hear about a variety of opportunities to generate income using hunting and other recreational pursuits, the basics of land ownership liability, as well as planning and implementing trails on their property. An offsite field trip to a managed site will allow them to practice and apply the skills they have learned. Instructors will also guide landowners on how to finalize their property management goals and objectives.

Participants will receive equipment to help them manage their land and will meet agency representatives and others available to help them accomplish their goals.

This is the last in a series of four workshops in the Biltmore Forest School Coastal Woodland Steward Series designed to promote a healthy environment by equipping landowners and managers with the tools and resources necessary for managing their land. Graduation ceremony and lunch will follow on Saturday for those who have attended at least 3 of the 4 workshops.

The cost is $50 per person per workshop, with spouse or other family member at $25. Registration includes lunch and snacks on the first day of each workshop as well as workshop-related materials. Registration for this workshop will be accepted through October 30.

Credit toward NC Environmental Education Certification is available, as well as educator CEU and forester CFE credits.
