Education is Big this Fall at the Asheville Art Museum; Register Now for Classes

The Asheville Art Museum, celebrating its 60th anniversary, is pleased to announce that registration is now open for its After-School and Home-School Art Classes.

After-School Drawing Class for High School Students
For Students in Grades 9 – 12
Thursdays, 4:00 – 5:30 p.m.
Fall Session: September 18 – October 23, 2008
$60 per session
Pre-registration is required; financial aid is available.
In this six-week session, students will learn a variety of drawing techniques and experiment with a variety of media to create one of a kind works of art. No previous art experience is needed — beginners are welcome.
After-School Cartooning Class for 4th – 7th Grade Students
For Students in Grades 4 – 7
Tuesday, 3:30 – 5:00 p.m.
Fall Session: September 16 – October 21, 2008
$60 per session
Pre-registration is required; financial aid is available.
In this six-week session of Cartooning, students will learn the basic mechanics of drawing strip and single-frame cartoons to create finished and ready-to-be published works.
Home-School Program
For Students in Grades 1 – 6
Second Tuesday of the month, 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Fall Session: September 9, October 14, November 11, 2008
$3.50 per student, per session
Pre-registration is required.
Each 90-minute session includes a guided tour of the Museum’s permanent collection or a special exhibition, plus a hands-on activity in the Museum’s studio. Museum admission for students and all necessary materials are included in the cost.
