A Swannanoa Solstice on December 21st at Diana Wortham

December is a time for reflection, connection, and celebration — and for over a decade, the performers of A Swannanoa Solstice have been bringing warm merrymaking and quiet contemplation to Asheville audiences.

This year’s performance will be on December 21st at 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm. Tickets cost $40 each, with discounts available for students and children. For additional information and tickets please visit Diana Wortham Theatre’s website.

The introspective melodies of guitar and mandolin, the lively staccato of step dancers and world percussion, the ancestral resonance of Highland pipes and bouzouki, the tender intonations of harp and piano — these are the sounds of A Swannanoa Solstice, the annual winter holiday celebration now in its 12th year. Award-winning recording artists Al Petteway, Amy White, and Robin Bullock are joined by the talents and voices of special guest musicians, storytellers, dancers, and host and founder of The Swannanoa Gathering at Warren Wilson College, Doug Orr, for a joyous and contemplative performance featuring seasonal Appalachian, Celtic, Scots-Irish, and world-influenced music. Share a cup of wassail with family and friends and join in the tradition.
