Nineteen North Buncombe High School Students traveled to Charleston South Carolina to spend the weekend attending the annual Young Adult Author’s Festival ‘YALL Fest’ (Young Adult Literature in the Low Country.)
60 authors popular in the genre, including 37 New York Times Best Sellers, attended the festival holding book signing events and panel discussions.
The North Buncombe Students had a great time meeting some of their favorite authors, getting books signed, and enjoying the rich cultural history of the city of Charleston. The group traveled to Folly Beach and went on a Ghost and Dungeon Tour of Historic Charleston.
One highlight for some of the students was meeting Ellen Hopkins, the author of the popular book “Crank,” on the street, and getting their pictures taken with her.
