Presentation by Award-Winning Designer Doug Grimmett

The Black Mountain College Museum + Arts Center in downtown Asheville announces a presentation by award-winning designer Doug Grimmett on Friday, October 24th at 12:00 noon. Grimmett is the founder of Primal Screen, an Altanta, GA design firm.

According to Grimmett, the rate of disruptive change has become so great that constant chaos is now business as usual. From this chaos comes great opportunity, especially for those working in media and communications. The 21st century designer not only has to master the ever-changing tools and platforms, but also predict how users and viewers will adapt and behave. Grimmett will show how to predict disruptions by identifying disconnects and converging developments. This presentation is co-sponsored by the Western Carolina University Design Development Foundation and is part of the annual lecture series Ideas Without Walls / In-Between the Spaces.

With more than twenty years’ experience in design for motion media, Doug Grimmett has received over 200 national and international awards in advertising, design and broadcast. As the founder of Primal Screen, he has served as Creative Director on all Primal Screen projects. His deep experience emphasizes children’s entertainment brands including Nickelodeon, Disney, Cartoon Network, and Boomerang. Recently he served as president of AIGA Atlanta and is a frequent lecturer and author on the future of kids media and design in general.
