N.C. Museum of History Accepting Entries for Film Festival

The N.C. Museum of History in Raleigh is accepting entries for its inaugural Longleaf Film Festival to be held Saturday, May 2, 2015.

The event will be presented in conjunction with the blockbuster exhibition Starring North Carolina!, opening Nov. 15, 2014, and running through Sept. 6, 2015.

Early-bird deadline: Oct. 1, 2014; $20
Regular deadline: Dec. 1, 2014; $25
Late deadline: Feb. 1, 2015; $35
Extended deadline: March 1, 2015; $60

Middle and High School Student Film Entries
Early-bird deadline: Oct. 1, 2014; $15
Regular deadline: Dec. 1, 2014; $20
Late deadline: Feb. 1, 2015; $30
Extended deadline: March 1, 2015; $50

The film festival will explore historic and contemporary stories from the state, the country, and the world through narrative and documentary movies. All winning entries will be shown at the May 2 event, and prizes will be awarded.

All festival submissions will be eligible for the $500 Judges’ Choice award, and all films made in North Carolina are eligible for the $500 Made-in-NC award. Each film entered in the middle and high school student category is eligible for the $500 Best Student-Made Film.

Additional prizes will be awarded in the festival’s five main categories for entry:

Narrative Feature (between 50 and 90 minutes);
Short Narrative (between 5 and 30 minutes);
Documentary Feature (between 50 and 90 minutes);
Documentary Short (between 5 and 30 minutes);
Middle and High School Student Film (between 5 and 30 minutes).
