Alex Krug Combo on October 24th

The Alex Krug Combo has recently gained momentum, throwing a 2013 CD Release Party at Highland Brewery for their new album “Divers” as well as opening for such acts as Donna the Buffalo and Erin McKeown.

They will perform on October 24th at 8:00 pm at Pisgah Brewing, 150 Eastside Drive, Black Mountain, NC 28711. Admission is free!

Alex moved to Asheville a few years ago from rural Maryland, where she grew up as a sixth generation blacksmith. This unique upbringing as well as time spent in the forest, rivers, hilly farmlands, and state park nearby undoubtedly helped cultivate a style that has been described as “woods Americana.” Now, she and the members of The Combo extend, explore, and transcend that earthy classification into something more ethereal. The core group consists of vocal-thrusting front woman Alex Krug, the talented and ambitious Kevin Lampson on upright bass, the smart, sassy Rachel Gramig affords harmonizing vocals, and cool, demure Kyle Samples provides atmospheric sounds with electric guitar.

Revolving artists include Patrick Armitage on drums, (formerly of Atmosphere), and Lyndsay Pruett on violin (Ten Cent Orchestra, Jon Stickley and so many others). Previous Winners of the Brown Bag Songwriter Contest, the group went on to release a live performance audio on iTunes as well as recording a 6 song self-titled EP that was mastered in Boston by Will Holland (involved in mastering many artists albums including the Pixies). Most recently they released their third recording “Divers”.

This talented band opens up the ceiling of instrumentation, vocal ecstasy and lyricism in a way that elevates the listener. Alex Krug Combo is Heart Driven Rock/Americana.
