RiverLink’s Anything That Floats Parade Was a Blast — Again

The morning of Saturday, August 9 found 26 teams assembling a series of creative, colorful, unique rafts to float in RiverLink’s 22nd annual Anything That Floats Parade on the French Broad River.

Rafters began putting in at 10 a.m. at Hominy Creek Park, floated by French Broad Park where RiverLink was hosting RiverFest, and took out at the RiverLink Sculpture and Performance Plaza.

Some of the watercraft included The Wizard of Oz, with the entire cast in costume and decorated canoes. Another group took on an “Orange is the New Black” theme. Zome Voyage was a modified geodesic dome on a raft of boards and barrels. (if you missed it you can see it at the RiverLink Performance Park) The winner of the Green Machine category, “Little Bud,” consisted of 718 Bud Light cans filled with foam and glued together with polyurethane. The Little Bud team drove all the way from Pittsburgh, PA to participate after seeing the Anything That Floats information on the RiverLink website, also winning the impromptu “Longest Distance Award.: “Big Foot” was just that – a really big foot strapped with two canoes for pontoons.
