BearWaters Brewing Co. Awarded Two Gold Medals at U.S. Open Beer Championship

BearWaters Brewing Co., was awarded two gold medals at the US Open Beer Championship held in Atlanta, GA.

BearWaters entered only two styles of beer: the Sliding Rock Ale and the Minorcan Porter. They both took home gold; the Sliding Rock Ale in the English Mild Ale Category, and the Minorcan Porter in the Specialty/Anything Goes Category.

Over 1,650 beers were entered in this home brewing competition from all across the United States. This is a huge honor for BearWaters Brewing Co. as many of the previous winners are from nationally recognized breweries.

The Sliding Rock Ale has been recognized before by winning a gold medal at the Carolina Championship of Beers in 2013. It was the featured beer from BearWaters at the Burning Can Festival hosted by Oskar Blues Brewing Co. on July 5th. The Sliding Rock Ale is also the first beer to ever be canned in Haywood County.

The Minorcan Porter is the world’s first chocolate, datil pepper porter. This beer was made in collaboration with Asheville Brewing Company. The US Open Beer Championship is an annual competition hosted by The Carolina Brewmasters since 1991.

This is the only competition that includes professional breweries and home-brewers to compete in 69 various categories.
