A mental illness can lead to all kinds of situations. Knowing how or where to get help is often half the battle. Asheville has a multi-faceted mental health system that serves tens of thousands of individuals each year.
Our services are person-centered, outcome-driven and tailored to reflect our commitment to community inclusion, holistic, wrap-around support and the integrated care model. We serve both children and adults and support every level of need.
NAMI is the National Alliance on Mental Illness, the nation’s largest grassroots organization for people with mental illness and their families. Founded in 1979, NAMI has affiliates in every state and in more than 1,100 local communities across the country. At NAMI Western Carolina, we are all volunteers who either live with mental health issues or care about people with mental health issues. We want to support you in your recovery and care giving. Jewish Family Services of WNC (JFS) is a nonprofit agency providing mental health counseling and other social services to individuals and families of all faiths in Western North Carolina.
Helpmate provides short-term, emergency shelter for battered women and their children, counseling services for victims of domestic violence, including a 24-hour crisis line, individual counseling, and support groups. Also offers professional training and public education in recognizing, treating, and preventing domestic violence.
Appalachian Mountain Health provides quality, affordable health services at six locations throughout Western North Carolina. We are proud to serve patients in Buncombe, Cherokee, Graham, and Jackson counties.
WNCCHS is a non-governmental social enterprise providing primary health care to residents of our service area.
