The American Adventure Service Corps is a year round, non-profit organization for ages 8-18, using outdoor adventure education, service to others and environmental education. For information, call 248-346-3902.

American Association of University Women meets the 3rd Wednesdays of the month. This group is a 150 year old national organization promoting equity for all women and girls, lifelong education and positive societal change. The Asheville's branch is NC's largest. The Apple Country Woodcrafters

Asheville Affiliates
We are a group of diverse and energetic young professionals dedicated to making Buncombe County a better place to live. Asheville Amblers Walking Club

Asheville Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society
Our performances include hilarious segues characterized by G-rated humor reminiscent of Vaudeville days. We enjoy a variety of vocal music activities throughout the area and take pride in our affiliation with the world's largest singing fraternity—the Barbershop Harmony Society.

Asheville Jaycees 
The Asheville Chapter of the Junior Chamber of Commerce is a group of compassionate young professionals between the ages of 21 and 39 dedicated to making Asheville a better place to live. Jaycees help members by providing opportunities for business, networking, personal growth, leadership development and social interaction. They help our local Asheville community by volunteering their time in various different projects. Asheville Jaycees are involved with the ABCCM Men's Shelter and Quality Forward organizations on a regular basis and have many social functions throughout the year. Asheville Lightning Junior Olympics Team
This is the premier youth track and field program in the mountains for kids 6-18 and has been in existence since 1990. They have over 20 volunteer coaches and each year host a major track meet for kids at UNCA.

The Asheville Marine Aquarium Society a group of marine (saltwater) and reef aquarium enthusiasts whose goal is to educate new aquarists and to preserve our reefs and oceans through breeding and coral propagation.

Carolina Nature Photography Association

Child Advocacy and Prevention Services, Inc. of WNC
Our mission is to reduce/prevent child abuse and neglect, assist victims, and strengthen families through prevention, education, and treatment. We offer child abuse prevention education to children age three through the fourth grade, parenting education to the public, counseling for abused children and their families as well as adolescent and parent support groups, and information and referral. Finally, we coordinate medical examinations of physically and sexually abused children in 22 western counties through the Mission Children's Clinic. Join this group of anglers and conservationists as they seek to protect area trout and their habitat. There are numerous scenic trout streams in the area; TU members can tell you where to cast your fly!

Western Carolina Darts Association Originally formed in 1989 by a small group of darters out of MackKells Pub, this Asheville based steel-tip league spans most of Western North Carolina from Black Mountain to Hendersonville. Tuesday league nights.

WNC Alliance
The Western North Carolina Alliance (WNCA) is a grassroots environmental organization that works to promote a sense of stewardship and caring for the natural environment. Citizens and chapters protect and preserve our natural land, water and air resources through education and public participation in policy decisions at all levels of business and government. WNCA encourages its members to recognize the interrelationships among environmental issues and to take personal responsibility for achieving protection of the their communities and the environment. We have chapters in Haywood, Buncombe, Macon, Jackson, Clay, Cherokee and Watauga Counties, as well as task forces dedicated to forests and public parks. Writers' Group Seeks New Members  
The Appalachian Round Table, a small group of writers (mostly Great Smokies Writing Program enrollees) is seeking up to four new members.  The group meets every other Tuesday, 6 to 9 PM, at the UNCA library, to workshop previously distributed literary fiction manuscripts.  Interested persons please contact Jeanne Howe: howe@sprynet.com.
